Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) have established checkposts at 11 key entrances to the capital and begun intensified searches ahead of the 13th Parliamentary Election slated from February 12.
The search operations started on Wednesday afternoon, according to a DMP press release.
The additional checkposts aim to maintain law and order across Dhaka Metropolitan City, it said.
Checkposts established
The checkposts have been set up at the following locations: Babubazar in Old Dhaka, Postogola Bridge, Matuail U-Loop, Staff Quarters, Basabo Road (near Kamalapur), Gabtali, 300 Feet of Purbachal, Abdullahpur Bridge, Kamarpara, and Dhaur Bridge.
Muhammad Talebur Rahman, DMP deputy commissioner (media and public relations), said, “In view of the national parliamentary election, checkposts have been set up at multiple locations, and searches have been intensified to ensure the law and order situation remains under control.”
