Two more devotees passed away on the third day of the five-day Jor Ijtema, a preparatory event of the Bishwa Ijtema, held under the supervision of the Shura-e-Nizam of Tabligh Jamaat at the Tongi World Ijtema ground in Gazipur.

With this, the total number of deaths during the five-day Jor Ijtema in Tongi has reached five.

Habibullah Rayhan, media coordinator for Shura-e-Nizam of Tabligh Jamaat Bangladesh, confirmed the information on Sunday morning.

The deceased have been identified as Abdul Asad Badal, 62, son of Abdul Zaher from Varthkhola area of Sadar Upazila, Sylhet, and Moin Uddin, 100, son of Nazir Uddin from Kottapara area of Sarail Upazila, Brahmanbaria.

Habibullah Rayhan said that the elderly devotee Moin Uddin passed away naturally at around 4:45am on Sunday at the Tongi Jor Ijtema ground.

Additionally, Abdul Asad Badal was taken to Gazipur Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmed Medical College Hospital at around 10:30pm on Saturday night due to respiratory complications, where the attending doctors declared him dead.

The five-day Jor Ijtema, organized under the auspices of Shura-e-Nizam, commenced on Friday after Fajr prayers at the Tongi World Ijtema ground on the banks of the Turag River in Gazipur, with a sermon delivered by Maulana Omar Faruq of Tabligh Jamaat Bangladesh.

The Ijtema is scheduled to conclude on December 2 with a final supplication (Munajat).
