A case of attempted murder dating back to July 2024 has been refiled in Bogra, naming 302 people as accused, including former Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal.
The case was lodged on Wednesday at Sadar Police Station by Md. Alif (25), son of Nur Hossain Mandal of West Brindabanpara in Bogra city, following a 16-month delay due to his medical treatment.
According to the complaint, on August 4, 2024, a student and public procession reached Chandni Bazar in Bogra when the accused allegedly attacked participants using cocktails, hand bombs, sticks, axes, knives, and other weapons, leaving several injured. Md. Alif was reportedly shot in the forehead, chest, and thigh and later underwent multiple surgeries, including treatment at Dhaka CMH.
Investigating officer SI Abdullah Al Sadiq confirmed that a drive is underway to arrest the accused. The plaintiff declined to comment on the case.
Among the accused are several prominent politicians, including former MPs, Awami League leaders, and leaders of Jubo League and Chhatra League. Some of the accused, however, have claimed that the case is politically motivated.
Authorities are reviewing the allegations and pursuing legal action against those named in the complaint.
