The Election Commission (EC) has said that 51 out of the total 59 registered political parties are taking part in the 13th National Parliamentary Election and have already submitted nomination papers.
The information was disclosed on Tuesday by Md Ruhul Amin Mallik, director of the Public Relations Department of the Election Commission Secretariat.
Ruhul Amin Mallik said that 51 registered political parties are participating in the upcoming 13th national parliamentary election.
According to the EC, a total of 2,582 nomination papers have been submitted across the country’s 300 parliamentary constituencies.
Sources said the Election Commission currently has 59 registered political parties. Among them, the registration of the Awami League has been suspended.
As per the revised election schedule, scrutiny of nomination papers will take place from December 30 to January 4, 2026.
Appeals against the returning officers’ decisions can be filed from January 5 to January 9, while appeals will be disposed of between January 10 and January 18.
The last date for withdrawal of candidacy is January 20.
On January 21, returning officers will publish the final list of candidates and allocate electoral symbols. Election campaigning will begin on January 22 and continue until 7:30am on February 10. Voting will be held on February 12.
