Bangladesh Medical University (BMU) has launched an online ticketing system to reduce patient inconvenience, manage unnecessary crowding, and ensure more efficient management of outpatient services.

From now on, patients no longer need to wait in long lines to get outpatient tickets. They can visit BMU’s website (https://bmu.ac.bd), complete online payment, and print their tickets. Patients can then consult doctors according to the department and time specified on their tickets.

The formal announcement of the service was made on Wednesday at an event held at the Shaheed Dr Milton Hall of the university. During the event, BMU and Pubali Bank Limited signed an agreement to implement the new system.

At the event, Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Md Shahinul Alam said: “Healthcare is a fundamental right. We want every patient to have access to quick and convenient medical services. Long queues for tickets and hours of waiting cause unnecessary hardship for patients. The online ticketing system is a major step toward resolving this issue.”

He added: “This initiative will not only reduce patient inconvenience but also make hospital management more efficient. Patients can now book tickets from home and visit the hospital at their scheduled time. This will save time and minimize waiting. While there may be some initial challenges, with everyone’s cooperation, the system can be successfully implemented.”

Other speakers at the event included Pro-Vice Chancellor (Administration) Professor Dr. Md. Abul Kalam Azad, Pro-Vice Chancellor (Research and Development) Professor Dr Md. Mujibur Rahman Howlader, Treasurer Professor Dr Nahrin Akhtar, Proctor Dr Sheikh Farhad, Director of ICT Cell Professor Dr AKM Akhtaruzzaman, and Managing Director & CEO of Pubali Bank Limited Mohammad Ali.

They stated that BMU is a trusted name in medical education, research, and healthcare services. The introduction of online ticketing opens a new chapter in patient-centered healthcare. In the future, if other hospital services are also brought online, patients will be able to access tests, examinations, and consultations with greater convenience and efficiency.
