Police have recovered the bloodied body of a 70-year-old man, Shawkat Kamal Khan, from a jungle near his house in Kalihati upazila of Tangail on Wednesday afternoon.

The deceased, son of the late Wazed Ali Khan of Charan Uttarpara village, was a retired employee of the National Museum in Dhaka. Locals said Shawkat returned to his village a week ago to renovate his house and look after family property. He was last seen alive on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning, residents found his body in the nearby jungle and informed police. Law enforcers sent the body to Tangail General Hospital for post-mortem.

Superintendent of Police Mizanur Rahman said the incident appears to be a case of murder, adding that a joint investigation is underway with the district detective police.
