A total of 95.78% of children in Rajshahi city have received the typhoid vaccine. This was revealed at a coordination meeting held at the conference room of the Divisional Commissioner’s Office on Thursday morning as part of the National Typhoid Vaccination Campaign 2025.

The Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) organized the meeting. Dr F.A.M. Anjuman Ara Begum, Chief Health Officer of RCC, said the school-level vaccination campaign started on 12 October and ended on 30 October. The target was to vaccinate 98,255 children from 621 schools in Rajshahi city, and 94,110 children were vaccinated—making up 95.78% of the target.

She added that community-level vaccination drive was launched on 1 November, and 19.25% more children had been vaccinated than the original target by 4 November.

Divisional Commissioner and RCC Administrator Khandaker Azim Ahmed said no one should be forced to get vaccines, but those who are yet to receive them should be encouraged and supported. He also stressed the need for creating awareness among the people to meet the full target.

He also mentioned that Rajshahi ranks first among the eight divisions in vaccination coverage, which he credited to collective efforts. He instructed the education department to step up monitoring in a bid to include the students who missed vaccination at the school level.

The meeting was attended by the Rajshahi Deputy Commissioner, Director of the Divisional Health Office, representatives from Unicef and the World Health Organization, and other officials concerned.
