The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued a public advisory on Thursday amid a steep rise in infections by the Aedes mosquito and a corresponding surge in dengue fever patients across the country.
In its message, the ministry urged that at the onset of fever, individuals should immediately seek necessary medical attention — including dengue detection tests — at the nearest health‑service institution as guided by a qualified doctor.
The ministry stressed that early detection and prompt treatment can help avert serious complications.
The advisory further called on households, building sites, schools and other establishments to remove and clean all accumulated water in and around premises.
The ministry urged people to use mosquito nets during the day or night while sleeping, owing to the daytime biting habits of the Aedes mosquito.
Even if dengue fever symptoms appear to subside, one must not neglect the remaining signs but immediately consult a doctor to avoid further complications.
The ministry’s message comes at a time when admissions of dengue patients in both government and private hospitals have increased alarmingly, pointing to an urgent need for heightened public vigilance and preventive action.
