A marathon with the theme “Let the morning light erase the darkness, bringing peace to life” was held in Jamalpur with the participation of around 600 runners. The health awareness organization Manobik Unnayan Vabna organized the event on Saturday morning at the Ashik Mahmud Pilot High School ground in Madarganj upazila.

Before the run, a discussion meeting was held with organization’s coordinator Enamul Haque Ripon Khan in the chair. Madarganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Nadir Shah, Assistant Superintendent of Police Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan, and marathon coordinator Rashedul Karim Liton also spoke.

Speakers said that modern life leaves little time for physical exercise, causing both physical and mental health issues. They stressed that just 30 minutes of regular exercise can keep the body and mind healthy.

Runners from Jamalpur and other parts of the country took part in the 7-km race, which started from the school ground, passed Balijhuri Bazar, and ended back at the starting point.
