The Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences at North South University (NSU), in collaboration with the North South University Pharmaceutical Club (NSUPC), successfully organized the much-anticipated Joya Sanitary Napkin presents “Pharma Fest 2025”.
The two-day festival brought together students, academics, and industry leaders in a vibrant celebration of innovation, research, and collaboration within the field of pharmacy.
The event commenced on Wednesday with an exclusive Industrial Advisory Board and Leader’s Meetup at the NSU campus, followed by a lively Alumni Night that reunited current and former students for an evening of reflection, inspiration, and networking.
Earlier in the day, students from universities across Bangladesh participated in a series of national-level competitions including Debate, Olympiad, Poster Presentation, and Stall Exhibition.
The opening ceremony of Pharma Fest 2025 took place on Thursday at 10:30am, beginning with a welcome address from the host and an inspiring speech by Dr Mohammad Hossain Shariare, chairman of the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, NSU.
Distinguished guests in attendance included Prof Dr Dipak Kumar Mitra, dean, School of Health and Life Sciences, NSU; Prof Abdur Rob Khan, pro-vice chancellor (In-Charge) & treasurer, NSU; Sayef Nasir, managing director, SMC Enterprise Limited; M A Kashem, member, Board of Trustees, NSU and Aziz Al Kaiser (Tito), chairman, Board of Trustees, NSU.
In his keynote remarks, Sayef Nasir, managing director of SMC Enterprise Limited, highlighted the significance of leadership, innovation, and the advancement of women’s health in Bangladesh.
His address inspired students and professionals alike, emphasizing the crucial role of corporate partnerships in shaping the country’s healthcare and pharmaceutical future.
Another highlight of the ceremony was an insightful speech by Syed S Kaiser Kabir, CEO and managing director of Renata PLC, who emphasized the importance of ethics, innovation, and entrepreneurship in pharmaceutical education and practice.
The session concluded with a Vote of Thanks from Faculty Adviser Adit Muktadir Pavel, followed by the inauguration of the official Pharma Fest 2025 Magazine and Pharma Exhibition.
Throughout the day, the Pharma Exhibition 2025 drew widespread admiration as students showcased innovative projects, research, and creative models highlighting real-world applications of pharmaceutical science.
The exhibition served as a powerful platform for academic-industry integration, reinforcing NSU’s commitment to research-driven, practical learning.
The closing ceremony, held later in the day, was graced by several prominent guests including Prof Dr Mohammad Hossain Shariare, Prof Dr Dipak Kumar Mitra, Prof Abdur Rob Khan, Benajir Ahmed, Mr Aziz Al Kaiser (Tito), Zareen Karim, managing director, Orion Pharma Ltd and Md Nasser Shahrear Zahedee, chairman, Radiant Pharmaceuticals Limited, who attended as the chief guest.
The session was chaired by Prof Abdul Hannan Chowdhury, vice-chancellor of NSU, who emphasized the growing importance of academia-industry collaboration in nurturing the next generation of pharmacists and healthcare leaders.
The evening concluded with a Prize Giving Ceremony recognizing exceptional performances across various segments, followed by a captivating Cultural Program that brought the two-day celebration to a memorable close.
With its dynamic blend of knowledge-sharing, networking, and celebration, Pharma Fest 2025 once again reaffirmed North South University’s unwavering dedication to advancing pharmaceutical education in Bangladesh and fostering innovation-driven leadership for the future.
