The residents of Chuadanga felt the chill from early Tuesday as the mild cold intensified across the district.
The mercury dropped from 15.9°C at 6am to 15.8°C by 9am, according to the local weather office.
People, especially daily wage earners, suffered due to the biting cold, while many were seen heading out for work in warm clothing from the early hours.
The chilly breeze coupled with the mild cold has heightened the cold’s impact across both urban and rural areas of the district.
The meteorological office said that temperatures may rise slightly during the day, but the cold is expected to become more severe at night and in the early morning hours.
Tahmina Nasrin, an observer at the Chuadanga Weather Station, said: “At 9am on Tuesday, Chuadanga recorded the lowest temperature at 15.8°C, with humidity at 83%.”
She said the night and early morning temperatures could fall further in the coming days.
