The annual art exhibition of Dhaka University’s Ceramics Department opened on Tuesday at the Zainul Gallery of the Faculty of Fine Arts.
Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, treasurer of Dhaka University, inaugurated the exhibition as the chief guest at a ceremony held in the faculty’s Osman Jamal Auditorium.
He later distributed certificates and awards among the prize-winning artists.
The program was chaired by Chinmaye Sikder Papy, chairperson of the Ceramics Department, with Professor AAM Kaoser Hassan, acting dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, and Engineer Mainul Abedin, son of Shilpacharya, speaking as special guests.
Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury congratulated the award-winning students, saying that participating in this exhibition will help them achieve even greater things in their future lives.
He noted that despite the university’s various limitations, students are creating innovative artworks in tune with the times, which is very encouraging.
He emphasized the importance of involving corporate and financial institutions in such events.
This year’s annual art exhibition awarded a total of 31 students from 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 across various categories.
The exhibition at Zainul Gallery will run until Sunday. It will be open to everyone daily from 11am to 7pm.
