Javed Ahmed and Khoy Khoy Marma have secured a medal at the 2025 Islamic Solidarity Games in Saudi Arabia after reaching the semifinals in the mixed doubles table tennis event on Wednesday.
This will be Bangladesh’s second medal at the Games, following weightlifter Marjia Akter Ekra, who won bronze earlier.
The table tennis duo dominated Nazim Rafa and Ahmed Munsif of the Maldives in the quarterfinals, winning the last-eight clash in straight sets, 3-0, at the Boulevard SEF Arena in Riyadh.
Bangladesh’s mixed doubles team will face Bahrain in the semifinals on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Table Tennis Federation announced a reward of Tk 25,000 for Javed and Khoy Khoy following their medal confirmation, with a promise to double the amount if they win the semifinal match.
