Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed has expressed deep sorrow and grief over the killing of a judge’s son and the injury of his wife in Rajshahi.
In a press release on Thursday, the chief justice conveyed his condolences.
The statement said that at the residence of Metropolitan Sessions Judge Mohammad Abdur Rahman in Rajshahi, his son was killed and his wife was injured in a brutal attack.
Chief Justice Dr Syed Refaat Ahmed expressed profound grief over this tragic incident on behalf of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh.
He said the heinous attack on a member of the judiciary’s family is condemnable, inhumane, and deeply distressing.
On behalf of the Supreme Court and the entire judiciary, the chief justice extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
The statement further noted that under the chief justice’s guidance, the Supreme Court is closely monitoring all developments related to the incident and expects that all relevant authorities will take proper measures to ensure a prompt, fair, and impartial investigation. The goal is to uncover the truth and bring the perpetrators to justice through the appropriate judicial process.
The chief justice emphasized maintaining the integrity and transparency of the investigation at every stage. The judiciary expects law enforcement agencies to act with the highest level of professionalism, transparency, and urgency.
