BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir said a party is trying to create division to come to power. Our past experience shows that it is not possible to bring change to the country or restore state discipline through them.

He made the remarks on Saturday morning after visiting the grave of the late BNP leader Barrister Aminul Haque in Godagari upazila, Rajshahi.

He added: “A party is attempting to create divisions within BNP. In this situation, I urge our leaders and activists to remain vigilant.”

During the visit, he introduced Major General (Retd) Sharif Uddin, the BNP’s provisional nominee for Rajshahi-1 (Godagari-Tanore), to local party activists and urged them to support him.

Mirza Fakhrul emphasized that the opposing party is trying to exploit divisions within BNP for their own gain and called on party leaders and activists to stay alert. “Internal conflict or division must not be allowed,” he said.

He also noted that Barrister Aminul Haque, as an MP and minister, contributed significantly to the local area and that his family has a long-standing legacy of service there. BNP’s acting chairman, Tarique Rahman, has now nominated Barrister Aminul Haque’s brother, Sharif Uddin, for this constituency. Mirza Fakhrul urged everyone to unite and work in his support.

Earlier, he visited the grave of the late BNP Vice-Chairman Barrister Aminul Haque at Fazilpur cemetery in Godagari municipality.

The visit was attended by Sharif Uddin, BNP chairperson’s adviser Mizanur Rahman Minu, former Rajshahi City mayor Mohammad Mosaddak Hossain Bulbul, Shafiqul Haque Milon (BNP nominee for Rajshahi-3), and other party leaders and activists.

After the grave visit, Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir departed for Chapainawabganj.
