Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hasan has said that the Navy will assist the EC in maintaining law and order in the upcoming national elections.

The sailors will not only perform their duties to protect the country’s sovereignty, but will also work alongside the people of the country to overcome any crisis in the country. The Navy Chief made the remarks in his speech after inspecting the parade and taking the salute at the BNS Sher-e-Bangla Naval Base Parade Ground in Kalapara upazila of Patuakhali district on Monday morning.

Earlier, the 22-week boot camp training of the Navy’s new sailors concluded with a graduation parade.

A total of 417 new sailors were inducted into the Bangladesh Navy as sailors after rigorous training. At the end of the parade, awards were distributed among the sailors. New sailor Rizan Mollah won the ‘Navy Chief’s Award’ for highest excellence. Maruf Hasan Munna won the ‘Kamkhul Award’ and Hasan Ali got the ‘Sher-e-Bangla Award’.

In his address as the chief guest, the Navy Chief recalled the sacrifices of the martyrs in the freedom struggle and anti-discrimination student movement.

He urged the new sailors to safeguard the country’s sovereignty, ensure security, and help boost the economy. He also urged them to serve the country and carry out their professional duties in the Navy.

He mentioned that the responsibility of sailors is not only military activities, but also to protect public life in times of crisis, ensure security at important installations, and maintain law and order.

The Navy Chief expressed optimism that the young sailors will play a leading role in protecting Bangladesh’s maritime borders and building a new Bangladesh in the future.

The parade was attended by the PSO of the Navy Headquarters, high-ranking military and civil officials and the guardians of the new sailors.
