A group of students blocked the railway line in Khulna on Sunday, demanding “reasonable time” to take preparations for the 47th BCS written examination.

Train services on the Dhaka–Khulna route remained suspended for nearly six hours due to the blockade. As a result, the Rajshahi-bound Sagardari Express could not depart on schedule, while the Sundarban Express from Dhaka remained stranded near Daulatpur Railway Station.

According to sources, expressing solidarity with the 47th BCS candidates, students started blockading the railway line in front of BL College in Daulatpur on Sunday afternoon. The Sagardari Express remained stuck at Khulna station from 4pm, causing immense suffering for passengers.

Protesters said that in previous years, candidates got sufficient time to take preparations for BCS exams, but 47th BCS candidates got only two months.

Khulna Railway Police Officer-in-Charge Ferdous Alam Khan said train service resumed after the blockade was withdrawn.

Khulna Stationmaster Zakir Hossain said the Sagardari Express left Khulna at 9pm, five hours behind schedule. The Sundarban Express from Dhaka reached Khulna five hours late, while the Rupsha Express from Saidpur was delayed by three hours.
