Doa mahfils were held at the mosques across Feni district on Saturday and Friday, seeking the quick recovery and well-being of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.
A doa mahfil was held at the central mosque in Sonagazi, Feni, on Saturday praying for BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s health. BNP vice-chairman and Feni-3constituency candidate Abdul Awal Mintoo attended the event. Local BNP leaders and supporters prayed for her speedy recovery and long life. Mintoo said the leader is a symbol of the country’s democratic struggle, and praying for her wellbeing is both a political and humanitarian duty.
On Friday, the special prayers were offered after Juma prayers, with worshippers (mussallis) participating in large numbers and praying for her long life and good health.
BNP Vice-Chairman and Feni-3 constituency candidate Abdul Awal Mintoo joined the doa mahfil at Alaiarpur Jame Mosque in Daganbhuiyan upazila. He urged the assembled worshippers to pray for Begum Zia’s speedy recovery.
BNP Joint Convener Anwar Hossain Patwary, Daganbhuiyan Upazila BNP Convener Akbar Hossain, along with many local leaders, activists, and general worshippers, also took part in the prayers.
District BNP Convener Sheikh Farid Bahar attended the doa mahfil at Feni Baro Jame Mosque, while District BNP Member Secretary Alal Uddin Alal joined the prayers at Pagla Mia Takia Jame Mosque in the district town.
Notably, Begum Khaleda Zia has been suffering from multiple health issues and now undergoing treatment at a city hospital for the last couple of days.
