Another man has died at the ongoing Jor Ijtema in Tongi, Gazipur. The deceased, Chan Mia, 60, was originally from Sarishabari upazila in Jamalpur but had been living in a rented house in Raghunathpur, Narayanganj, due to his job. He died during Friday’s Jumu’ah prayer. The death was confirmed by Tabligh’s Shura Nezam media coordinator, Habibullah Raihan.

Habibullah said Chan Mia suffered a stroke while offering Jumu’ah prayer. Fellow devotees rushed him to hospital, where on-duty doctors declared him dead. Earlier the same day, just before dawn, another devotee, Nur Alam, son of Sultan Ahmad from Anderchar (Kazi Taluk) village in Noakhali Sadar upazila, also passed away.

With these two deaths, a total of two worshippers have died during the five-day Jor Ijtema gathering in Tongi.
