The five-day Jor Ijtema, organized by the Shura-e-Nezam of Tabligh Jamaat Bangladesh, concluded on Tuesday with the Akheri Munajat on the banks of the Turag River in Tongi, Gazipur.

From early morning, thousands of devotees from Dhaka, Gazipur, and nearby districts gathered at the Ijtema ground. Around 250,000 worshippers took part in the concluding prayers.

The Akheri Munajat began at 8:51am and ended at 9:13am. As the prayer intensified, the entire Tongi ground reverberated with cries of “Ameen,” while many devotees wept.

The Munajat was led by Pakistan’s Maulana Ahmad Batla, confirmed Habibullah Raihan, media coordinator of the Shura-e-Nezam of Tabligh Jamaat Bangladesh.

He said 732 foreign participants from 27 countries joined this year’s gathering. The participating countries include Pakistan, India, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Canada, Thailand, Myanmar, Tunisia, the United Kingdom, Italy, Niger, Afghanistan, Germany, Japan, Chad, Qatar, the UAE, South Africa, the Philippines, Malaysia, the US, China, Egypt, South Korea, and Australia.

A total of six devotees died during the Ijtema, he added.

Following the Munajat, thousands of chillar jamaats, including groups of three and forty members, departed for various destinations as part of preparations for the Khuruj congregation scheduled for January 2–4, 2026. Remaining devotees returned to their homes.

Meanwhile, sources said the next Bishwa Ijtema in Tongi is expected to be held after the upcoming national elections, as per the government’s decision.
