Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus has accepted the resignation letters of Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuiyan and Mahfuj Alam, Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam has said.

He made the statement during a briefing in front of the state guesthouse Jamuna on Wednesday evening.

The press secretary added that their resignations will take effect once the Election Commission announces the election schedule.

Mahfuj Alam and Asif Mahmud were appointed as advisers to the interim government as representatives of the student leaders who spearheaded the July uprising.

Mahfuj had been serving as adviser to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, while Asif Mahmud had been the adviser to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Co-operatives, and the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
