Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has collected the nomination form to contest the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election as an independent candidate from the Dhaka-10 constituency.

He collected the nomination form from the Dhanmondi Thana Election Office at 11:40am on Monday.

The Dhaka-10 constituency comprises New Market, Hazaribagh, Kalabagan and Dhanmondi thanas.

Speaking after collecting the nomination form, Asif Mahmud said the election campaign involves significant risks, which has made it difficult to conduct normal campaigning.

He said the government has so far failed to arrest the accused in the murder of Sharif Osman Hadi, describing it as a failure of the government.

He added that candidates are operating under risk, particularly those who were leaders of the July uprising.

He further said the government must ensure the security of candidates as well as the leaders of the July uprising so that no one else meets the same fate as martyr Osman Hadi.

Earlier, on December 12, Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain announced in a video message posted on social media platform Facebook that he would contest the 13th National Parliamentary Election as an independent candidate from the Dhaka-10 constituency.

Prior to this, Asif Mahmud resigned from the advisory council on the evening of December 10. He had served as an adviser to the interim government as a representative of the students who led the July uprising. During his tenure, he was responsible for the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, as well as the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
