Jahangirnagar University (JU) authorities on Monday detained four individuals for using unfair means and impersonation during the 2025–26 undergraduate (honours) first-year admission tests.
During the second shift at 11:00 am, Sadia Amir Mahi was caught in Room 2 of the Zahir Raihan Auditorium allegedly using a mobile phone to access answers via ChatGPT while filling her OMR sheet. She was taken to the proctor’s office for questioning.
Later, at around 11:50 am during the third shift, Md Ehsanul Haque, a 2023–24 student of the University of Dhaka’s Department of Urdu, was detained from Room 402 of the School and College Building for attempting to sit as a proxy candidate for Rafid Hossain Sajit. Sajit was subsequently detained outside the building. Ehsanul reportedly admitted appearing in the examination on Sajit’s behalf.
Earlier on Sunday, another candidate was caught using unfair means during the ‘C’ Unit test under the Faculty of Arts and Humanities. JU cancelled the candidate’s examination and initiated legal action.
JU Proctor Professor Rashidul Alam said the detainees’ examinations would be cancelled, they would be barred from future admission tests, and the administration had contacted the authorities to pursue legal action through a mobile court.
