Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB-51) handed over a detained member of India’s Border Security Force (BSF) following a battalion-level flag meeting at the Dahagram border in Patgram upazila of Lalmonirhat district on Sunday.
According to sources, BGB called for a flag meeting, which was held at around 2:30 PM near the Tin Bigha Corridor, about 25 yards inside Indian territory from Border Pillar No. 812.
According to media reports, the meeting was attended by BGB-51 Battalion commander Lieutenant Colonel Selim Al Din and 174 BSF Battalion Deputy Commandant Bijoy Prakash Sukla, along with officials from both sides.
During the meeting, BSF deputy commander expressed regret over the incident and assured that such intrusions would not recur in the future.
BGB commander urged the BSF to detain, rather than fire upon, any Bangladeshi nationals found crossing into Indian territory and to hand them over to the BGB. The BSF side reportedly agreed to the request and assured restraint.
Confirming the incident, Lieutenant Colonel Selim Al Din said that BGB remains committed to maintaining peace and discipline along the border through coordination and dialogue.
Earlier at around 5:00 AM, members of the BGB-51 Battalion’s Angarpota camp intercepted a BSF personnel named Constable Bed Prakash, an official from 174 BSF Battalion, and took him into custody. As he entered about 100 yards inside Bangladeshi territory through the Dahagram–Angarpota border.
BGB also recovered a shotgun, two rounds of ammunition, a wireless set and an android mobile phone from the BSF member.
