A youth named Siam was killed on Wednesday evening in a crude bomb explosion thrown by miscreants in Moghbazar, Dhaka.
The incident took place in front of the Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Central Command, near the Wireless Gate area. Eyewitnesses said the bomb was hurled from the flyover and detonated on impact, seriously injuring Siam, who later died at the scene.
Masud Alam, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Ramna Division, told the media that primary investigations indicatd the bomb was thrown from the flyover. The motive remains unclear. CCTV footage is being reviewed to identify those involved, and further details will be released after the investigation.
Relatives said Siam worked at a factory and was present in the area at the time. His identity was later confirmed by family members.
Police cordoned off the area immediately after the blast. The assailants fled the scene, prompting panic among locals.
