The government has strengthened security ahead of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman’s return to the country.

As part of the measures, the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has been deployed at key locations in the capital, including the airport, 300 Feet Road, and Gulshan.

This was announced Thursday morning by the BGB headquarters.

The flight carrying BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has departed London’s Heathrow Airport for Dhaka. He is returning to the country after nearly 17 years, accompanied by his wife and daughter. The aircraft has already landed shortly at Sylhet Osmani International Airport.

The flight is scheduled to arrive in Dhaka around 11:55am.
