Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman returned to Bangladesh after 17 years, landing at Dhaka’s Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday.
He was welcomed with flowers by BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, along with Standing Committee members Salahuddin Ahmed, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury, Mirza Abbas, Dr Abdul Moin Khan, Selima Rahman, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Hafiz Uddin Ahmed, and other central leaders.
After completing immigration, Tarique Rahman exchanged greetings and hugs with party leaders in the VIP lounge.
He was later garlanded by his mother-in-law, accompanied by his wife Zobaida Rahman, daughter Zaima Rahman, and other family members in Bangladesh.
After leaving the airport, Tarique Rahman will proceed to 300 Feet to thank party leaders and activists, and then visit his mother, Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital.
Earlier, the plane landed at Sylhet Osmani International Airport at 9:56am. After a one-hour stop, it departed for Dhaka. The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner BG-202 carrying Tarique Rahman had departed London’s Heathrow Airport at 6:15pm local time on Wednesday.
