New textbooks have started arriving at primary and secondary schools in Rajshahi. According to the education office, 100 percent of primary-level textbooks have already reached Rajshahi. However, all secondary-level books have not yet arrived here. In the first phase, all textbooks for Class VI and some for Class IX have also arrived here. Book distribution among the students for classes VII and VIII has not yet begun, as their books have not reached the upazila level.

The Rajshahi District Primary Education Office said that 41,640 sets of books are required for the pre-primary level in the district. From Class I to Class V, a total of 1,119,204 copies of textbooks are needed. All books as per the demand have already been received. Since December 21, the books have been sent to various schools.

Meanwhile, the District Education Office said that the demand for textbooks from Class VI to Class IX in the district is approximately 2,207,000 copies. All of these books have not yet been received. The books that have arrived are being sent to schools. The remaining books will be sent to schools as soon as they arrive.

On Wednesday (December 24), secondary-level textbooks were seen being distributed from the Godagari Upazila Education Office in Rajshahi. Teachers who came to collect the books said that in the previous academic year, delay in getting all textbooks disrupted teaching activities. They expect the students will get all textbooks at the very beginning of the academic year.

The Rajshahi Upazila Education Office said that in the first phase, all textbooks for Class VI and some for Class IX have been supplied. However, distribution of textbooks for Classes VII and VIII has not started yet as these books have not reached the upazila level yet. The remaining books are expected to arrive within the coming week.

Rajshahi District Education Officer Zayedur Rahman said that students will receive their complete set of textbooks before the start of the new academic year. However, no instructions have yet been received regarding whether the books will be distributed through the book festival.

Rajshahi District Primary Education Officer AKM Anwar Hossain said that there is no crisis regarding primary-level textbooks this year. “We have received 100 percent of the books according to our demand. This year, students will get new books on the very first day of the year.”
