BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman paid tribute to the martyrs of the Liberation War at the National Martyrs’ Memorial in Savar on Friday night.

He arrived at the memorial at 10:04pm and stayed for about 30 minutes. Upon arrival, Tarique Rahman, accompanied by party leaders and activists, placed floral wreaths in remembrance of the fallen heroes.

During his visit, a large number of BNP leaders and activists lined the Dhaka–Aricha highway, from the Nabinagar bus stand to the main gate of the memorial, welcoming him with slogans. Carrying festoons and banners, they marched and gathered on the memorial premises.

Tarique Rahman also signed the visitors’ book of the National Martyrs’ Memorial while remaining inside his vehicle.

Those present included BNP Standing Committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, former state minister for home affairs Lutfozzaman Babar, central committee co-assistant secretary for family welfare Dr Dewan Mohammad Salauddin Babu, other Standing Committee members, and central party leaders.

People from Savar, Ashulia, and different parts of the country gathered in large numbers at the memorial premises marking Tarique Rahman’s arrival.
