Former prime minister and BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will be buried with state honours beside the grave of her husband, martyred president Ziaur Rahman, at Zia Udyan near Chandrima Udyan in the capital.
Preparatory work for the burial began on Tuesday afternoon.
Due to security reasons, entry of the general public has been prohibited during the burial and related ceremonies.
This information was confirmed by the chief adviser’s Press Wing on Tuesday.
On Wednesday, the funeral prayer (janaza) will be held at 2pm on Manik Mia Avenue, adjacent to the South Plaza of the National Parliament. After that, she will be laid to rest with state honours at 3:30pm beside the grave of martyred president Ziaur Rahman at Chandrima Udyan.
As the burial will be conducted formally by the state, entry for the general public will remain restricted. Only invited individuals and authorized personnel will be allowed.
Additionally, for security purposes, the Press Wing has requested that no bags or heavy items be carried to the funeral prayer or burial sites.
