The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has said it is not confirmed that those involved in the attack on Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of the Inquilab Mancha and a potential independent candidate for Dhaka-8, have fled to India.

Police say the attackers are likely still in the country, and operations to apprehend them are ongoing.

DMP Additional Commissioner SM Nazrul Islam shared the update on Sunday at a press conference at the DMP Media Centre on Minto Road.

He said the passports of those involved have been seized to prevent them from leaving the country. Preliminary investigations indicate that Faisal fired the gun directly during the attack. Abdul Hannan, the owner of the motorcycle used in the incident, has also been arrested.

The DMP added that all aspects of the case are under thorough investigation, and law enforcement agencies have intensified efforts to bring other perpetrators to justice swiftly.

On Friday afternoon, Sharif Osman Hadi was shot by assailants in the Box Culvert area of Bijoynagar, Dhaka.

He was first taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition and later moved to Evercare Hospital. Doctors have said his condition remains serious.
