The 4th South Asian (SAAF) Senior Athletics Championships 2025 concluded in India’s Ranchi, Jharkhand on Sunday with Bangladesh securing three bronze medals at the three-day meet.

Bangladesh 4x400m relay men’s and women’s teams bagged two medals each on the last day.

The women’s team comprised Sumaya Dewan, Sharifa Khatun, Barsha Khatun and Nusrat Jahan Runa. The men’s team comprised Masud Rana, Najmul Hossain, Tarek Rahman and Lushad Islam. India and Sri Lanka’s athletes shared the top two podiums in both events.

Host India and Sri Lanka’s athletes also dominated other events of the competition.

Bangladesh’s Tarek, Lushad, Abdul Motaleb and Md Ismail earlier won the first medal for the country in men’s 4x100m relay on the second day of the meet.

The championship featured six South Asian countries – India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Maldives, Bhutan and Bangladesh. India topped the medal tally followed by Sri Lanka.
