A bomb disposal unit of Bangladesh Police has defused 16 handmade bombs (cocktails) recovered by law enforcers during their operation in Kaliganj upazila of Jhenaidah. The explosives were destroyed at the mini stadium ground in the Notun Bazar area of the town on Monday.
Head of the Bangladesh Police Bomb Disposal Unit Abu Azeef, also former officer-in-charge (OC) of Kaliganj Police Station, led the disposal operation. Sub-inspector Rajib Hossain of Kaliganj Police Station and other members of the team were present.
Kaliganj OC Shafiqul Islam said that on 17 June this year, a joint force raided the house of Abdur Razzak in Pir Gopalpur village under Jamal Union of the upazila and arrested him with 16 cocktails. These explosives have now been defused by the bomb disposal unit, with support from a team of officers from Kaliganj Police Station.
