The deceased’s wife, Sabina Yasmin, filed the case at Dupchanchia Police Station on Tuesday afternoon, agaisnt unnamed individuals.

Two individuals have been arrested in connection with the incident. They are the microbus driver, Sanowar Hossain, 40, and Md Shakib, 25, both residents of Uttar Sajapur village in Dupchanchia.

According to the case filed by the victim’s wife, the police arrested them, noting that Shakib had assisted in renting the microbus. The suspects had hired the vehicle under the pretext of making an arrest while posing as DB police officers.

Additional Superintendent of Police (Media) Atowar Rahman of Bogra and OC Afzal Hossain of Dupchanchia Police Station confirmed these details on Tuesday afternoon.

The body of Pintu Akand was recovered from a microbus in Kumarpur, Adamdighi Upazila, around 11:15pm on Monday, approximately two hours after the abduction.

Pintu Akand, the son of the late Ayez Uddin of Lohagara village in Raninagar Upazila, Naogaon, was the director of his brother-in-law’s Lotto showroom in Khandakar Market, Dupchanchia Bus Stand area.

According to police, at around 9:15pm on Monday, four masked men abducted Pintu Akand at gunpoint from the business establishment in Dupchanchia Sadar.

The incident was captured on CCTV, and the video subsequently circulated on social media. Two hours later, police found his body inside the microbus parked by the roadside in Kumarpur, Nishratpur Union, Adamdighi Upazila.

The police reported that he had been suffocated to death with tape around his nose and mouth.

Md Babu, the brother-in-law of the deceased and owner of the Lotto showroom, said: “Pintu was a very good person with no known enmity. We are not certain why or by whom he was abducted and murdered. We hope the police will conduct a proper investigation to uncover the mystery behind his abduction and killing. We seek justice for this incident.”

The microbus owner, Moshiur Rahman Panna, said: “On Monday afternoon, 5–6 individuals posing as DB police officers rented my microbus from Dupchanchia Bus Stand, claiming they were going to Rajshahi to apprehend suspects. Later, I learned about this incident.”

OC Afzal Hossain of Dupchanchia Police Station added: “After preparing the inquest report, Pintu Akand’s body was sent to the morgue of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC) Hospital in Bogra. Following the case filed by the victim’s wife against unknown individuals, two arrests, including that of the microbus driver, have been made. They are being interrogated and may be remanded if necessary. However, the motive behind the abduction and killing is yet to be confirmed. The investigation is ongoing, with CCTV footage under review. I have no information regarding the microbus being rented under the pretext of DB police identity.”

According to police and CCTV footage, at 9:08pm on Monday, a white microbus arrived in front of the Lotto outlet in Dupchanchia Sadar. Four masked men exited the vehicle, displayed firearms, and forcibly abducted Pintu Akand into the microbus. The abductors then drove the vehicle along the Bogra–Naogaon Regional Highway toward Adamdighi Upazila. Acting on the information, the police launched a recovery operation and later discovered the body inside the microbus parked by the roadside in Kumarpur.
