Students of Dhaka College and Dhanmondi’s Ideal College have reached a verbal “peace agreement,” pledging not to engage in any future conflicts.

However, students from City College did not attend the event.

The agreement ceremony was held on Sunday at the Dhaka College auditorium. In the presence of teachers from both institutions, students pledged to avoid all disputes in the future.

Clashes often break out among students of Dhaka College, City College, and Ideal College over trivial matters, sometimes escalating into large-scale conflicts. These incidents not only put law enforcement in a difficult position but also cause suffering for the general public using nearby roads.

To prevent such incidents, the New Market police station of Dhaka Metropolitan Police organized this “peace agreement” initiative, led by Officer-in-Charge (OC) AKM Mahfuzul Haque.

Dhaka College Principal Prof AKM Elias, Ideal College Acting Principal Muhammad Rezwanul Haque, OC AKM Mahfuzul Haque, and teachers from both colleges were present at the event.

When asked about the initiative, OC Mahfuzul Haque said: “We had arranged the ‘peace agreement’ among students of Dhaka College, City College, and Ideal College, but City College students did not attend.”

He added: “We appreciate the verbal peace commitment made by the two colleges. A joint committee will be formed with police, teachers, and students from both institutions. If any future disputes arise between the two colleges, the committee will resolve them amicably.”
