A minor tremor was felt in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, following an earthquake that struck the Bay of Bengal shortly on Thursday night. The 4.0-magnitude quake occurred at 3:29 am, with its epicenter located approximately 118 kilometers from Teknaf.

According to the earthquake monitoring platform Volcano Discovery, the tremor felt in Teknaf was very light, leaving most residents unaware of the quake. The platform was unable to confirm the depth of the epicenter. However, the European-Mediterranean Seismological Centre (EMSC) reported that the earthquake originated at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Last Friday, a stronger earthquake measuring 5.7 on the Richter scale jolted Dhaka and several other parts of the country. The tremor, which lasted for several seconds, triggered panic as people rushed out of buildings and onto the streets. The quake, with its epicenter in Narsingdi, killed at least 10 people and injured several hundred others across the country.
