The Election Commission (EC) has officially approved the registration of 81 domestic election observer organizations ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.
The EC published the final list on its website on Monday, signed by Md. Ruhul Amin Mallik, director of the EC’s Public Relations Wing.
According to the announcement, the EC granted registration to 66 organizations in the first phase on November 6 and to another 15 organizations in the second phase on December 4. Each organization received a five-year registration term.
Earlier, on September 28, the EC issued a public notification listing 73 local organizations as initially eligible to serve as election observers for the national polls. The commission invited claims, objections or complaints against those organizations by October 20, requiring written submissions with supporting evidence.
After reviewing and resolving the objections, the EC gave final approval to the 66 observer groups, valid from November 6, 2024, to November 5, 2030.
Following further scrutiny in the second phase, the EC approved 15 additional organizations, granting them registration from December 4, 2024, through December 3, 2030.
