Ahead of the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election, the Election Commission (EC) has instructed district election officers to prepare and promptly submit a detailed list of polling centres equipped with CCTV cameras.
The directive was issued through an urgent notice signed by Md Nasir Uddin Chowdhury, senior assistant secretary of the EC Secretariat, on Wednesday.
According to the EC circular, senior district election officers and district election officers have been asked to send the list to the “Election Assistance-1” branch through their respective regional election officers by November 12.
The list must be submitted both as a hard copy and a soft copy, following the prescribed format.
The EC stated that the use of CCTV cameras is crucial to ensuring transparency and preventing irregularities during the voting process in the upcoming election.
Having an updated list will help the commission monitor the overall CCTV coverage and strengthen its election management and oversight.
The commission plans to announce the election schedule in the first half of December and hold the polls in the first half of February.
