In his first political speech after joining the BNP, Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho on Sunday said the fascist system will be permanently abolished under the leadership of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdho, twin brother of July martyr Mir Mugdho, was warmly welcomed amid an emotional and jubilant atmosphere in the Bogra-2 (Shibganj) constituency, according to BNP Media Cell.

He joined a student-people’s rally at Mir Mugdho Square in Shibganj upazila, Bogra, organized by the upazila and municipal units of BNP.

Upon his arrival at the venue, thousands of students and locals, along with hundreds of motorcycles, brought him in a procession from the historic Mahasthangarh to the rally ground.

Mir Shahe Alam, a BNP nomination aspirant from Bogra-2 (Shibganj), chaired the rally.

Addressing the rally, Mir Snigdho said: “I feel honored to deliver my first political speech here in sacred Shibganj’s Mahasthangarh. Killer Hasina murdered my brother along with 2,000 of our brothers and sisters and injured 20,000 more.”

“BNP was the worst sufferer of enforced disappearances, killings, and oppression carried out by killer Hasina,” he said.

“Since childhood, I have seen the uncompromising leadership of Begum Khaleda Zia. Inspired by her ideals, I have joined the BNP”.

Claiming that he rejected a “blank cheque” offer from “killer Hasina” after his brother’s death, he said: “We still did not compromise with Hasina. The killer Hasina, must face justice in this country.”

Mir Snigdho further said that by uniting July fighters and all young people across the nation to implement Tarique Rahman’s 31-point agenda, the fascist system will be eradicated forever.

In his address, Mir Shahe Alam said: “BNP is the strongest force of July, and Mir Snigdho’s joining the BNP, as the brother of Shaheed Mir Mugdho, has once again proven that truth.”

Shaheed Mir Mugdho was shot dead by police while providing water to the July fighters.

His final cry — “Pani lagbe, pani” (“Anyone needs water, water”) — touched the hearts of millions.
