Miscreants set fire to the office of Udichi Shilpigoshthi on Topkhana Road in the capital on Friday evening.
The incident occurred around 5:45 pm at Udichi’s office opposite the National Press Club.
Four units of the fire service rushed to the scene and quickly brought the fire under control, officials said.
Rozina Islam, an official at the fire service control room, said, “After receiving news of the fire, four units went to the scene and started work. Within a short time, the fire was brought under control.” She added that, initially, no casualties had been reported.
Amit Ranjan De, general secretary of a faction of Udichi Shilpigoshthi, condemned the attack, saying, “Those who want to destabilize the country and push it backward are the ones who set the fire.”
