Law enforcement agencies have arrested five leaders and activists of Awami League in Moulvibazar district on Thursday.
The arrestees are: Russell Ahmed (33), Religious Affairs Secretary of Barlekha Upazila Swechchhasebak League; Tota Mia (65), Religious Affairs Secretary of Ward No. 2 under Fatepur Union Parishad of Rajnagar Upazila Awami League; Abdul Bashid (55), Publicity Secretary of the same ward; Md. Kashem Ali (36), a member of Sreemangal Sramik League; and Md. Babel Ahmed (37), Sports Secretary of Juri Upazila Jubo League.
Confirming the matter, Moulvibazar Superintendent of Police Mohammad Billal Hossain said that a total of 62 leaders and activists of Awami League and its affiliated organisations have been arrested in the district over the past nine days under the “Devil Hunt Phase Two” operation.
