Five students were stabbed during a clash between two groups in a madrasa in Gazipur’s Sreepur upazila over a trivial matter on Thursday.
The incident took place on Thursday afternoon on the north-east side of the field of Garan Khalilia Fazil Madrasa in Barmi Union.
The injured are Rifat, 15, Nazim Uddin, 15, Niloy, 15, Muhin Uddin, 15 and another Rifat, 15, all Class Ten students of the madrasa.
The accused, Siyam, 14, son of Shahjahan from Satkhamair village in Barmi Union, is a Class Nine student of the same madrasa and has been absconding since the incident.
Sreepur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Abdul Barik said police visited the spot after hearing about the incident but no written complaint had been filed till afternoon.
Sreepur Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Barrister Sajib Ahmed said he has instructed police to investigate the incident and take legal action against the accused.
