Gold prices have increased again in the domestic market.

Considering the upward trend in international markets and local market instability, the Bangladesh Jewellers’ Association (Bajus) has decided to raise the price by Tk5,248 per bhori.

According to the new adjustment, the price of 22-carat gold now stands at Tk2,13,834 per bhori, effective from Friday.

The decision was unanimously taken during a meeting of the Bajus Standing Committee on Pricing and Price Monitoring on Thursday.

Bajus stated that the rise in pure gold prices led to the re-evaluation of all carat gold prices. Under the new rates:

  • 22-carat gold: Tk2,13,834 per bhori (highest in the country’s history)

  • 21-carat hallmark gold: Tk2,03,909 per bhori

  • 18-carat gold: Tk1,74,931 per bhori

  • Traditional gold: Tk1,45,355 per bhori

Silver prices have also been adjusted. Under the new rates:

  • 22-carat silver: Tk364 per gram

  • 21-carat silver: Tk347 per gram

  • 18-carat silver: Tk298 per gram

  • Traditional silver: Tk223 per gram

Bajus said the revised prices will remain in effect at all jewelry shops nationwide until further notice.

However, the government-mandated 5% VAT and a minimum 6% labor charge set by BAJUS must be added to the selling price. Labor charges may vary depending on the design and quality of the jewelry.

Experts noted that the current year has seen the highest rate of gold price increase in recent years.
