The government will provide one day’s food to Rohingya refugees during the Nabanna Festival, a traditional harvest festival.

While speaking at a seminar held in Cox’s Bazar on Sunday, Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Md. Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the plan.

The seminar titled Rohingya Emergent Futures: Collective Foresight and Adaptive Actionwas organized by the Commonwealth Journalists Association (CJA) and chaired by CJA President Parveen F. Chowdhury. Key speakers included Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) Md. Mizanur Rahman, Director General of Myanmar Wing, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Md. Kamruzzaman, BNP Organizing Secretary Shama Obayed, migration expert Asif Munir, Professor Amena Mohsin, and Cox’s Bazar district Jamaat Amir Nur Mohammad. The keynote paper was presented by CJA Bureau Chief Julhas Alam.

At the RRRC Conference Hall, hosted by CJA Secretary Osman Gani Monsur, Secretary Mostafizur Rahman said that Sunday marks the harvesting day of the Nabanna Festival. On the occasion of the day, the government will provide 400 metric tons of rice to meet the one-day food needs of Rohingya refugees.

CJA organized the seminar with support from BRAC and the RRRC, highlighting collaborative efforts for refugee relief and management.
