Prof Dr Md Mamun Habib, head of the Department of Management under the School of Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE) at Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB), has received the Supply Chain Management Award at the 8th IEOM Bangladesh International Conference on Industrial Engineering and Operations Management.
The conference was held on December 20–21, 2025, at World University of Bangladesh (WUB) and organized by IEOM Society International, USA.
The award recognizes Prof Habib’s sustained contributions to supply chain management research, academic leadership, and policy-relevant scholarship.
The IEOM conference brought together academics, industry leaders, and policymakers to discuss contemporary challenges and innovations in industrial engineering and operations management.
In addition to receiving the award, Prof Habib chaired a panel session titled “Lean Six Sigma: Driving Sustainable Excellence in Industrial Operations,” which explored how process improvement methodologies can support sustainability and operational efficiency across industries.
The panel featured Prof Dr Mohammad Faisal Ahammad, head of the International Business Department at the University of Leeds, UK; Mir Sharif Ahammad, executive director and head of Commercial (Import & Export) at Walton Hi-Tech Industries PLC, Dhaka; and Prof Dr Selim Ahmed, dean of the Faculty of Business Studies at WUB.
Discussions during the session focused on the strategic integration of Lean Six Sigma tools to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and strengthen long-term industrial performance. Prof Habib moderated the exchange, underscoring the importance of collaboration between academia and industry in driving sustainable excellence in industrial operations.
He also served as Technical Chair of the conference.
