India’s Foreign Minister S Jaishankar and Pakistan’s National Assembly Speaker Sardar Ayaz Sadiq shook hands and exchanged greetings at the National Parliament House in Dhaka while paying their respects to former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia.

Representatives from 33 countries had gathered at the Parliament House to offer their final tributes. Although Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar was expected, Sadiq represented Pakistan. During the visit, both Jaishankar and Sadiq also met with BNP’s acting Chairman Tarique Rahman.

Nepal’s Foreign Minister Bala Nand Sharma and Bhutan’s Foreign Minister DN Dhungyel were also present to pay their farewell respects.

The foreign guests met with Tarique Rahman to convey condolences and held discussions with two advisers of the caretaker government.

In addition to the visiting dignitaries, ambassadors, high commissioners, and representatives of international organizations in Dhaka attended the funeral and paid their respects to Khaleda Zia.
