The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed female umpire Sathira Jakir Jesy as a match official for the upcoming T20 International series against Ireland.

Jesy will serve as the fourth umpire during the second T20 and as the TV umpire in the third and final match of the series.

The BCB also announced the list of match officials for the Test series.

Zimbabwe’s Andy Pycroft, a member of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees, will officiate as the match referee for all fixtures across both the Test and T20 formats.

For the first Test, starting November 11 at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Pakistan’s Ahsan Raza and Australia’s Sam Nogajski will stand as the on-field umpires, with England’s Richard Illingworth serving as the TV umpire and Bangladesh’s Tanvir Ahmed acting as the fourth umpire.

The second Test, scheduled to begin on November 19 at the Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, will feature Nogajski and Illingworth as the on-field umpires, while Raza takes charge as TV umpire. Masudur Rahman Mukul, from the BCB umpire panel, will serve as the fourth umpire.

All three T20 Internationals, to be held in Chattogram on November 27, 29, and December 2, will be officiated by local umpires. Gazi Sohel, Morshed Ali Khan, Masudur Rahman Mukul, and Tanvir Ahmed will rotate as on-field umpires throughout the three matches.

Jesy’s inclusion marks another step forward for women’s participation in cricket officiating roles in Bangladesh.
