Journalist Anis Alamgir has been taken to the office of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s Detective Branch (DB).

He was picked up from the Dhanmondi area of the capital at around 7:30pm on Sunday and taken to the DB office, according to information he shared with the media over his mobile phone.

“I was brought from a gym in the Dhanmondi area. DB said their chief would talk to me,” Anis told reporters.

He said he was taken from Dhanmondi around 7:30pm and reached the DB office at approximately 8pm, where he and those accompanying him have been waiting since then.

Senior journalist Anis Alamgir has worked for several media outlets, including the Daily Ajker Kagoj.

In recent weeks, he has appeared in the news for remarks made on various television talk shows.

Attempts were made to contact officials of the Detective Branch by phone and text message to inquire about the circumstances of taking Anis Alamgir to the DB office, but no immediate response was received.
