Jahangirnagar University (JU) will conduct its undergraduate (honor’s) first-year admission tests at divisional cities from the 2026–27 academic session, Vice-Chancellor Professor Mohammad Kamrul Ahsan announced on Tuesday.
The decision came during a visit to admission test centres, where the Vice-Chancellor and Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Education) Professor Dr Mahfuzur Rahman spoke to journalists.
Professor Dr Mahfuzur Rahman said the initiative could not be implemented this year due to time constraints. “Because of the short preparation time, it was not possible to organise the admission tests at the divisional level this year. However, we are hopeful that from the 2026–27 academic session, admission tests will be held in divisional cities,” he said.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Ahsan added that the university has taken a policy decision to conduct admission tests at divisional-level universities from the next academic year. “Meetings will be held soon to determine which divisions and universities will be included in this process,” he said.
JU admission tests for the 2025–26 session began on December 21 and will continue until December 29. Detailed information and results are available on the university’s official admission website, ju-admission.org.
