The live telecast of the first verdict in the trial of former prime minister Sheikh Hasina, accused of genocide and crimes against humanity, drew a large crowd at the TSC of Dhaka University, organized by the Dhaka University Central Student Union (Ducsu).

On Monday at 11am, Ducsu arranged for the verdict to be displayed in the Payra Chattar area of TSC.

Regarding the live broadcast of Sheikh Hasina’s verdict, Ducsu Vice President Shadik Kayem wrote on Facebook: “Live broadcast of the first verdict against killer Hasina: Killer Hasina vs Bangladesh.”

A Dhaka University student, Hasan, said: “We are eagerly awaiting news of Sheikh Hasina’s death sentence. During the July movement, the fascist Hasina arbitrarily killed thousands of our brothers. The people of Bangladesh who support democracy are awaiting the verdict in this trial.”

Shyamol Kanti, who came to watch the verdict at the TSC, said: “Those who have gone to Delhi will not be found in Dhaka again. The Awami League will no longer have a place in Bangladesh. Today, through Sheikh Hasina’s death sentence, the Awami League will be permanently erased from Bangladesh.”
